Ask Congress to make a mother’s fight their fight!


Every single day, 1,000 mothers — some unaware they carry HIV — transfer the virus to their babies during pregnancy, childbirth or breastfeeding. Without treatment, 50 percent of HIV-positive infants will die before their second birthdays. With your help, we can eliminate pediatric AIDS, and protect mothers and babies worldwide. Lawmakers face many tough budget choices this year, but continuing to fund global HIV/AIDS programs should be an easy one. We are at a crucial moment in the effort to create an AIDS-Free Generation and need to keep the momentum going.

As policymakers descend on Washington, D.C., for the International AIDS Conference, ask congress to make a mother’s fight their fight! Please use this link to write your Senators and Representatives a letter to keep Congress committed to this fight and oppose cuts to global health programs. We also urge you to ask your readers and followers on your blog and across your social media channels to use the link and get involved too. The more mothers, the greater the impact we can have!

    This is a great post! I’m going to DC this weekend on behalf of Results for their international conference which coincides with the Aids meeting. We are going to lobby Capital Hill on Tuesday and I will be meeting with my Senators and members of congress. Thanks for providing these photos as I would love to use them on my blog when I post from there.

    Hello Readers:
    This Friday marks a big day as I’m off to our nation’s capital to participate in the RESULTS International Conference where I’ll learn advocacy skills in our fight to end global poverty. On Tuesday, July 24th over 300 of the Results volunteers and activists, including myself, will be marching on Capital Hills to meet with our members of Congress and urge them to do what they can to put an end to global poverty. I specifically will be working as a Shot@Life Champion (sponsored by the UN Foundation) to discuss such important topics as providing global vaccines to developing nations, the Child Survival Call to Action and funding for AIDS. I am thrilled that our conference will be coinciding with the AIDS International Conference (which is the first time in decades that it has been held in the United States). We will have opportunities to learn more about the treatment and funding required to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS and bring this new information to Congress. I have already scheduled three meetings with both my Senators and Congressman’s staff. Wish me luck!
