Because a child’s early literacy skills are a strong predictor of their later academic achievement, Super Stars Literacy provides at-risk Kindergarten through 2nd grade students with daily, after-school literacy instruction which enables them to reach grade-level reading ability by the end of 2nd grade. SSL currently serves 420 students at nine high-poverty East San Francisco Bay Area elementary schools, and is expanding to serve 2500 students per year by 2015.
